UPPSA takes planning school beyond the classroom.
We provide opportunities for professional, academic, social, and philanthropic events, and serve as a vehicle for student input into the MUPP program administration. In a planning program that's one of the largest in the nation, UPPSA helps students connect, interact, and engage. We're always looking for new opportunities, events, and volunteers -- contact us anytime!
Who we are
UPPSA provides academic, social, professional, and philanthropic events for MUPP students at UIC. We are a student-led, student-focused organization dedicated to helping students make the most of a graduate planning education--building connections, volunteering, and having fun along the way.
If you are a prospective student and would like to learn more, please contact us anytime.
What we do
UPPSA organizes monthly and annual events for students and the public.
Transit-Oriented Dining (TOD) is a monthly event open to all MUPPs. UPPSA travels to a transit-friendly restaurant (usually BYOB) for an evening of socializing and entertainment. Past locations include Belli's Chicago (MUPP-owned), Revolution (MUPP-owned), and Sakura Karaoke.
The Urban Innovation Symposium is UPPSA's annual showcase of planning knowledge from around the region. It takes place in late January-early February and features presentations from planning professionals, nonprofits, and entrepreneurs engaged in improving cities here and around the country. Open to the public--all are welcome.
UPPSA also coordinate MUPP participation in volunteer projects around the Chicago region, including the Gary Parcel Survey, Chicago Lights Urban Farm, and more.
