A message from Sandy Koo, UPPSA President 2019-20

Welcome to the official website for the Urban Planning and Policy Student Association (UPPSA)! This organization is comprised of first and second year students dedicated to serving the diverse community of prospective urban planners. We are coming into the 2019-2020 school year with many ideas to engage our students outside of the classroom. There will be networking events with the CUPPA Alumni Association and various organizations throughout the city, social events and happy hours to help create bonds among the students, and volunteer opportunities to give our students the means to interact with the community in a positive way. We are also pleased to be able to bring numerous professional development occasions, such as professional headshots, resume workshops, and interview skills programs.

We also work in close partnership with the other urban planning student organizations: LPODER (Latino Planning Organization for Development, Education, and Regeneration), SBUP (Society for Black Urban Planners), WPPA (Women in Planning and Public Affairs), and USSA (Urban Studies Student Association). We also collaborate closely with the public administration branch of CUPPA via PASA (Public Administration Student Association for MPA students) and PPLAN (Policy and Planning Academic Network).

Our biggest event of the year is the Urban Innovation Symposium, which will be held January 24, 2020. It is an entirely student-run event that has garnered a stellar reputation in the city and surrounding region for hosting stimulating conversations and seamlessly bringing together academics, planning professionals, and civic leaders. The 2020 event is doubly special for us because it will the Symposium's 10th Anniversary! There will be a day session on the UIC campus and the evening portion will be held on a location to be determined.
